Jack White, Kurt Cobain and Billie Joe Armstrong are famous rockers who all used relatively cheap guitars early in their careers. Using the most expensive gear money can buy was not their priority. These artists focused on the music, they honed their art, and then fame followed and so did the wealth. With their newly acquired wealth they could buy whatever gear they wanted, and they did. Don’t fret if you can’t afford the best. Be remarkable with what you have and the best will follow.

Kurt Cobain used a cheap out-of-tune acoustic to record the song “Polly”. According to some reports, it was a $20 pawnshop “Stella” acoustic. And he regularly played with a Japanese-made Startsoasters because he liked their smaller frets and lower price.
